Ruff & Smooth, Nhyiraba Kojo To Settle Case In Court

It was reported earlier to Flex newspaper and flexghana.com that music duo Ruff & Smooth and Nhyiraba Kojo were exchanging life threatening messages and posts on BBM, Facebook and some other social media on the internet. After days of exchange of serious threatening messages from both camps, management members of Ruff & Smooth Fredrick Appiah who is known as Lence together with one Theophilus have said they are suing Nhyiraba Kojo for character assassination and life assault.
Speaking with both parties at the Accra central police station with the police over the weekend, Theophilus who is from the camp of Ruff & Smooth told this reporter that the whole issue started when they had a report from some of their fans that some people were using the name of Ruff & Smooth to promote their event in Obuasi. In their bid to find out who was behind the said event, they realized they were some guys from the camp of Nhyiraba Kojo. When they confronted Nhyiraba, he admitted that the show was being organized by his friend in Obuasi and even wanted to put Ruff & Smooth on it.
So after bargaining, they agreed on GHc 3000 for the show and then asked him to pay extra money for using their brand without management notice and that was when Nhyiraba Kojo gave them an amount of GHc 800 as compensation and agreed to call them for the GHc 3000 for the event but since then, they never heard from him again.
“So a day before his event, we met him at Labadi and we told him since we did not hear from him again we had agreed to perform on a show at Vienna City at circle that same day so can’t be on his show at Obuasi. That was the last time we met to talk about the show. The next thing we realized was all sorts of posts on Facebook and BBM to tarnish the image of our artistes. He also sent us text messages threatening to maim Ruff & Smooth and even said he would stab Bullet anywhere he will meet him. So we have told our lawyers about it and reported it to the police as well. We don’t owe him anything. He needs hype for himself that’s why he is doing all that but he will face the law for his actions. He has been asked to report to the station so we will let the press know our next step. But we will surely take him to court” Theophilus told this reporter .
Flex newspaper went on to Nhyiraba Kojo to hear his side of the story and this was what he said, “ Boss I met Bullet and told him about my event and agreed on an amount of GHc1,500 for them to appear on my show. So he asked me to pay half of the money to them before the show which I agreed and gave GHc800 to their manager. On that day when he was coming to take the money, the manager said I shouldn’t have talked to Bullet and that the GHc1,500 is too small so I should make it GHc2000. I agreed and gave him GHc800 as part payment and agreed to pay the rest at Obuasi. Since that day anytime I call, their numbers will be off. I couldn’t reach them until I heard they were on a show at Labadi. I went there and they told me they are on a show at Vienna City that same day and so couldn’t go to Obuasi with me. And sadly enough that was a day to my show so I asked them to refund the GHc800 I gave them so I can quickly get someone to replace them. The manager told me his artistes have spent the money so he would pay me back when I return from Obuasi after the show. I agreed to their plea only for them to go on the social media to post all sorts of messages to sabotage my show. They were called by a radio station from Obuasi and these guys said live on radio that they knew nothing about the said show and so are not coming after I have paid them the Ghc800 weeks ago and made them aware. How can you do that to a fellow artiste? So the venue owner had to call the show off claiming fans will misbehave and damage his properties if they don’t see Ruff & Smooth performing as promised. A show I invested Ghc7000 plus their Ghc800 in promoting it. It was just called off just like that and you expect me to sit and watch these guys spend my Ghc800 for free? No way. They claim they are taking me to court. Well they should go ahead and I will defend myself. I have copies of messages they also sent and posted on social media as well. And I still stand by everything I said” Nhyiraba also told Flex.
Flex newspaper promises to follow this case and bring to its cherished readers all latest developments. Keep reading.
