They hit the limelight when they released One
Gallon in 2005. The two brothers, Bradez then
inched their way further into the hearts of
music lovers when they followed it with Simple
in 2009.
However, before Simple could hit the market,
one half of the Bradez duo, Kunta Kinte,
suffered a stroke at the age of 21 years and
found himself bedridden.
Telling his story, Kunta told Showbiz in a
telephone interview from his base in Kumasi:
“it was a Monday and I was in school”.
Kunta was then a Level 200 student at the
School of Performing Arts, Legon. “I remember
I had recorded my verse in Simple and five
days after that I began feeling very feverish.
“ I thought it was malaria so I went to the
Legon Hospital. However, after leaving the
hospital, I felt like I was sinking. I was sort of
falling. It is difficult to explain but I realised
something was happening to me.
“ I woke up later to find myself in one of the
beds at the Legon Hospital. I was told I lost
consciousness and I was in a coma for a day or
so. I was later refered to Korle-Bu after
spending five days at the Legon Hospital”, he
said.
According to Kunta, 26, when he came from
his unconsciousness, he realised something
was not right with him. “I couldn’t talk, I
couldn’t move my right hand and right leg.
Infact, the right side of my body was
paralysed. There was no strength whatsoever in
that part of my body. I later found out that I
had suffered a stroke” he said.
Touching on how he felt when he discovered
he was ‘bedridden’, Kunta said “I was
devastated at first but I knew I had to fight to
overcome it. I am a very energetic person who
loves to sing, dance and there is no way I
wanted to be confined to a bed for the rest of
my life.
“ When it happened, I virtually had to be
helped in everything I did. My mother and
brothers had to support me because I could
not do anything on my own and I am grateful
to them and God for how far he has brought
me.
“Initially, I thought it wouldn’t take long to get
well but I have realised it is not so. I admit it
bothers me that it has taken this long. It’s
been five years now but I am very grateful to
God.
“ To think that before I couldn’t do anything
on my own and now I have regained 80
percent of my strength is very good. I can talk,
sing, and since last year, even drive myself to
do my physiotherapy. The feeling is just great.
“There are people who have suffered stroke
and couldn’t regain their strength. Some have
even lost their lives so I am very happy to be
alive and getting stronger each day. I can even
cook for you” he added with glee.
Asked what he could cook, Kunta amidst
laughter said “ I can cook Indomie and rice. It
has not been easy but I am about 80 percent
well now. I am working hard to add the other
20 percent to be fully recovered and that I
know will be soon. I am very grateful to be
alive” he added.
Touching on his music career, Kunta said “ I
don’t want to come back on the music scene
half-baked. I want to come back with a bang.
So I am taking my physio very seriously so I
can join my brother and together with him,
Bradez will be bigger and better than before.
Kunta is very grateful to God, his mother,
brothers, family, Samini and a host of others
who have been very supportive of him.
“I am thankful to everyone who has been there
for me. I will plead with my fans to be patient
with me and wait for Kunta because I will be
back” he added.

“I COULDN’T TALK, I COULDN’T MOVE MY RIGHT HAND AND LEG” – KUNTA KINTE TELLS HIS STORY
Bye Bye to ‘Allo Tigo’… what’s next from TV supremo, Jon Germain?
Jon Germain has revealed to News One that
his music and celebrity magazine show,
‘Allo TiGo’, has been laid to rest after airing
on Metro TV for over a decade. The TV icon
and musician made the announcement
yesterday, saying it was to pave way for a
new programme he was working on. “I
wanted a new challenge and my boss Talal
agreed with the new idea,” he said.
“It’s been awesome hosting ‘Allo TiGo’. I’ve
gotten to meet and interview the likes of
Rev. Jesse Jackson, Nana Akufo Addo, Bennie
Man, Buju Banton, Frank Bruno, Abedi
Pele, Coldplay etc. It was fun. We created so
many things that I see other shows doing
now. The show introduced many big
Ghanaian artistes to Ghana. Almost all the
big names in Ghana music now were first
interviewed on ‘Allo Tigo’. That’s where
people saw them first,” he said.
‘Allo TiGo’ is an entertaining, informative
and pop culture platform that has been on
TV since 2003. It was aired on Sundays at
7pm and repeated on Tuesdays at 2pm.
The 60-minute show features local and
foreign music video charts, one-on-one
celebrity interviews, music albums’ reviews
and releases.
It is arguably the longest running
entertainment TV programme in Ghana.
Unfortunately, Jon is taking a bow with it.

Dr. Dre Named “Wealthiest Hip Hop Artist” After Apple/Beats by Dre Deal
Close but no $1 billion cigar. Three weeks
after Dr. Dre proclaimed himself Hip Hop’s
first billinoaire in a cell phone video with
Tyrese, his wealth is being reported at over
$200 million short following the $3 billion
sale of Beats by Dre.
Speculation of Dr. Dre becoming Hip Hop’s
first billionaire artist/producer surfaced
once rumors of the eventual Beats by Dre
sale surfaced less than a month ago.
However, Billionaire.com reports Dr. Dre’s
overall networth at being at $790 million.
The details of the sale were not made
public, however Forbes speculated a similar
wealth total for Dre and assumed Dr. Dre’s
payout would be half-cash and the rest in
Apple stocks. Since Apple CEO Tim Cook has
revealed that both Dre and Iovine will have
roles at Apple, stock options exchange seems
likely. In addition, Dr. Dre and Jimmy
Ionvine only own 25% each of Beats and
after taxes, the $3 billion payout turns Dre’s
payout to roughly $240 million.

Arguably one if Ghana's most important
Entertainment personalities, Jon Germain has
contributed his Quota to the industry for over
a Decade now; the Enigmatic Bubble has
helped promote Ghanaian music in several
forms, including Radio, T.V and endorsements.
Jon Germain himself remains a star on the

Floyd Mayweather dismisses rumours…
Boxing star Floyd Mayweather has refuted
claims of an affair with T.I.’s wife Tiny.
The champ and his crew recently got into a
nasty fight with the rapper and this was
reportedly caused by an alleged affair between
Tiny and Floyd.
In an exclusive interview with
necolebitchie.com, the boxer revealed that he
has never slept with Tiny.
“I never kissed her, never touched her in no
inappropriate way. Her friend Shekinah wanted
to come to the fight, she brought Tiny with
her. They came to the fight,” he said.
Tiny then posted a picture of her, Floyd and
others on Instagram, and Floyd believes that
that must have set T.I. off.
“I guess she put a picture up on Instagram of
her at the fight so I guess he [T.I.] was feeling
some type of way.”

Shatta Wale’s Manager, Bulldog Released
I guess we’ve all learnt our lesson now.
(JOY NEWS ) – Nana Asiama Hanson (Bulldog),
manager of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale who
is standing trial for allegedly murdering Fennec
Okyere, a music producer has been granted
bail Tuesday.
Bulldog, who is also the CEO of Bull Haus
Entertainment, was picked up by police on May
15 in Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra, as a
prime suspect in the death of Fennec Okyere
who was murdered at his residence on March
13 by unknown assailants. The deceased was
the manager of hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kesse.
ASP Joseph Benefoh Darkwa, the Public
Relations Officer of the Police CID, had told Joy
News Bulldog had sent threatening messages to
Fennec prior to his death.
Bulldog made his first appearance in court on
Monday, May 19 and was remanded into police
custody to appear in court on June 2.
The prosecution asked permission to remand
the suspect to enable the police continue with
their investigations. According to the
prosecution, his detention would go a long way
to assist the police’s investigations due to the
sensitive nature of the case.
But lawyer for Bulldog, Gary Nimako objected
to calls for his client to be remanded in police
custody.
He had argued that the charges leveled against
his client – conspiracy to commit murder and
committing murder – cannot hold because the
prosecution has not been able to link his client
to Fennec’s murder.
Lawyer for Bulldog confirmed to
Myjoyonline.com that his client has been
granted bail: “He (Bulldog) has been granted
bail.”

Lilwin apologizes over wee act but still insists Ghanaians got him all wrong
Comedian, Lilwin, has always been well
received anytime he mounted the stage to
perform and loud applause ushers him off
stage when he is done with his act.
But last Saturday maybe one of his most
embarassing moments when he was forced
to leave the stage before he was through
with what he had planned to do at the
fourth Ghana Meets Naija concert hosted at
the Accra International Conference Centre.
During Lil Win’s comedy act at the event,
he announced that he was in possession of
marijuana which he said was the best
medicine to cure headache and other
ailments. But before he could explain
further, Lil Win was interrupted by D.J
Black and the former who was obviously
not too happy.
Lil Win who has received a lot of bashing
for putting up such an act has explained to
Graphic Showbiz, that his act was about the
disastrous effects of substance abuse and
not to glory drugs.
“What I had in the plastic bag was not wee
but rather talcum powder, pepper and
leaves. I mentioned “wee” because I wanted
to explain to the audience the dangers of
using drugs. There is no way I would stand
on such a big platform to promote “wee”.
“ For Christ sake, I am a MTN Ambassador
who has a lot of followers and that alone
should tell anyone I wasn’t there to
promote “wee”. It is unfortunate but
maybe, I didn’t get the introduction to the
subject right. I will never promote
substance use.
“I don’t use drugs but I worry about the
young folks who do so and I thought as a
role model, it was my duty to educate
them on such issues when I get the
opportunity. And the Ghana Meets Naija
was a good platform to do just that. It is
unfortunate the organisers thought I was
promoting “wee”,” Lil Win explained.
According to the actor, never has he
promoted the use of “wee” in his movies
not to talk about promoting it on such a
huge platform.
He said had the organisers been a little
patient with him, everyone would have
known the good message he was trying to
drive home.
Asked why he did not communicate to the
organisers before coming on stage, Lil Win
explained the act was arranged between
him and musician, Guru
Lil Win says he is sorry for the mishap and
that he had no intention to promote drug
use many are speculating.
